Goodbye Sassy

My sweet dog, Sassy, died yesterday. We went out of town to stay with friends, came back late morning, got busy putting up stuff and doing laundry.....so I finally went to feed her and as soon as I opened the back door, there she was. I was so shocked because my mom had just been over the day before to feed her for us and she said she was her same ole' silly self. She did have heartworms, but that usually starts to show signs and she didn't have any signs. After talking with Chris about how she was laying there......we decided that we think she died very suddenly. It was almost as if she was walking and literally dropped dead where she was standing. I'm so sad that she's gone and I just hope that she didn't suffer at all.
R.I.P. Sassy girl!

I can't believe I no longer have any pets. :( Harley died 6 1/2 months ago....the day we brought our baby girl home from the hospital and now Sassy is gone, too. I've been pretty upset that both of my doggies are gone! Here are a couple pics of my dogs for you to see.
They grew up together and were only 1 year apart.
They were best friends and always took care of each other.
Thank you for being great pets for the last 8-9 years! You both were with me through all kinds of things and always loved me. Even through all of the digging, jumping fences, running away, breaking windows, chewing the walls, and many more.....y'all were always happy and fun. We also experienced 2 litters of puppies and had lots of fun playing with balls, ropes and eating lots of milk bones. I hope you both lived a good, happy life! I will always remember you and miss you dearly.
I'll end with this poem for you both:
My Forever Pet
There's something missing in my home, I feel it day and night
I know it will take time & strength, before things feel quite right
But just for now, I need to mourn........my heart - it needs to mend,
Though some may say, "It's just a pet,"
I know I've lost a friend.
You've brought such laughter to my home, and richness to my days.
A constant friend through joy or loss, with gentle loving ways
Companion, friend & confidante.....a friend I won't forget.
You'll live forever in my heart,
My sweet, forever Pet!
Goodnight all

Prayers needed

My sister sent me this yesterday and I wanted to share it with all of you. It's a very moving, yet heartbreaking story.....but worth reading and adding to your prayer list. I know some people may know them, too.

Here's my sister's email:

Hey everybody-the link I have attached is for a friend I went to school with-Amy Nicholson (Sparkman). Her 3 year old daughter Reese was diagnosed with cancer November 2009 (Just weeks ago!). PLEASE take the time to read her story and take a look at her pictures and PRAY, PRAY, PRAY! With enough prayers, God can produce a miracle! May God lift her up!
The link is http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/reesenicholson or in case you can't get from here (some people had problems): http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/reesenicholson

I am so thankful for what I have and will continue to pray for this precious family!

Really?!?!?!?

I put crazy girl Meritt down for bed a little while ago. I went to check on her and this is what I found.

I originally laid her longways in the very middle of her crib. I have no idea what she does to get like this?!?!? Her arm was completely through the bars perfectly and she was sleeping hard.

We've found her with a foot between the bars, but never anything like this. Maybe we need to put the bumper pad back on. We took it off until she was able to roll over well, but we don't want her to get caught in the bars. They aren't too far apart, but her little arms and legs can still fit in between right now.

Of course I put her back in the middle, but we'll see how she is in the morning. :)

I know, I know.....just a few more

Well, I have a few more cute pics of ... who else?? MERITT :)
We had a good weekend at home, spending quality family time. We ran some errands and visited my sister and family on Sunday. Good times!!
New passy that looks like a cat.
Sleeping in the other morning......and loves to be on her belly.
Poor baby squishing her face....but sleeping good!
Silly girl sitting in the floor playing with toys
One of her favorite toys is an empty cup

Laughing with Mommy
Seriously...this girl LOVES her some cereal. I can be making her cereal and start walking toward her and she will open her mouth like this.

Look at that adorable face!

I think she would eat cereal all day if she could :)

Visiting the Austins.....on the floor with cousin, Ella
Ella got her big flower out and Meritt liked it
So cute
That's for sure.....what her shirt says!

More.....and MORE!

I posted LOTS of pics at the bottom......but started writing and got on a roll. :)

So I have lots more pics to show. Like I said in the post before……we’ve had a lot going on lately and Meritt has been keeping us busy. She’s not quite on the move yet, but she definitely wants to be. I’ve decided that she is a busy body and has to constantly be entertained. I try to let her just play in the floor by herself, but it doesn’t last long. She wants someone to be in there with her. It’s cute & sweet, except for when I have other things I need to do…..which is always. :) Anyway, Meritt is sitting up completely on her own and will fall over every once in a while, but will just roll over and be fine. She now will usually roll to her stomach every time you put her on her back. It blows my mind because she hated being on her tummy for so long and now that's how she wants to be most of the time…..especially when sleeping. When we put her down for a nap or bed…..within 2 seconds she flips to her belly. She definitely sleeps much better on her belly…..as I’ve heard about a lot of babies. When she first started doing it a few weeks ago I was constantly waking up in the middle of the night to check on her. I’m so afraid of SIDS and it just freaked me out that she might roll on her belly and get stuck. At first she would fuss when she would roll to her tummy because she couldn’t get back……so we had several nights of her waking up all through the night. But she finally got more comfortable and that’s the way she prefers, now. Meritt is getting to be so big and changing so much. All of a sudden the other day Chris & I both said to each other that she looked different. We both noticed at the same time that something about her looked different. Mind you, we DID get her hair cut a little, but that’s not what it was. She looked a little different after her hair cut, but this was something about her face that has changed. We can’t pin-point exactly what it is, but she’s just a changin’. Chris & I have this thing about flash-backs. It’s more Chris than me, but we will just get random flash-backs about things in the past. Sometimes it could be from when we went on vacation a couple years ago, or something from our wedding, being in a certain place or just a memory of a special time. The other night I was reading the weekly email about Meritt’s development at this time and it mentioned something that reminded us of a cute thing that she did when she was a newborn. We both said “Aaaaawwwwhhhh” and got that feeling of nostalgia. We miss the time when she was tiny and all of the time that has already passed, but we wouldn’t trade it for what we have now. I have trouble with time going by so quickly and feeling like I haven’t captured every second so that I will remember all of the time that has become SO IMPORTANT to me. I try so hard to cherish every moment with Meritt and Chris, but we get caught up in every day life and work…..that it just slips away. This is the only chance I get with my first child as a baby…..so I want to take it all in. She is the most precious thing in my life & I love her more than I ever thought possible.

So….sorry for getting all mushy, but this blog will end up being a collection of all of the memories and events in my life since I became pregnant. I hope to have it printed into a book, so that Meritt (and I) will have it to look back on. And of course, it wouldn’t be the same without all of the great pictures that capture our lives as well. Here are lots more pictures that I’ve been wanting to post. I was waiting to post our family pictures & Meritt’s 6 month pics until I sent our Christmas cards.
Get ready for LOTS of pictures!

The ones below are her 6 month pics.

Now for some random pics from home.

Just woke up....

Cute little outfit

FABULOUS!

Ok....pics below are of Meritt's FIRST HAIR CUT! We took her to Kids Hair Safari because she just had all these wild, long hairs that never fell out with the other baby hair and it's been driving me crazy. She has a lot of new hair that's been growing in, so I wanted to get it all the same length.

This is when she first got in the seat.
She loved sitting in the Barbie jeep.
Here we go.
The clippers didn't bother her at all and she was such a good girl.
Here she is with her new hair cut!! So freakin' cute.....she kind of looks like a boy, but I think all girls go through that when their hair is growing out. :) We'll just be sure to put bows or clips on.
First time in her new bath seat.

Sitting in the laundry basket and I would push her around. She loved it!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Lots & Lots

So....I have LOTS of pictures to show! We had Thanksgiving and Meritt turned 6 months.....and we've just been busy doing all kinds of stuff. So...I will just get started with the pictures.
Meritt just chillin'
6 month birthday & being silly
She had her doctor appt and he said she looks perfect. She got her last round of shots until she's a year, so we were excited to hear that. She gained a little bit...now 17.8 lbs and 26 1/2 in. Still in the 90% in height, but dropped to 75% in weight. No teeth.
We let her try out a sippy cup and she can hold it good and drink out of it, but she's more interested in playing with it.
1st time to try baby food MEAT and mixed veggies! Yuck! The meat smells like canned cat food. :(

Thanksgiving with my mom's side. The whole family.
All of the cousins in order from oldest to youngest. DJ-21, Jesse & Josh-20, Jordan-15, Tristan-10, Samuel-8, Jared-5, Aiden-2 & Meritt-6 mo
All of those boys and then 1 girl. :)
Meritt's 1st Thanksgiving outfit & bib

Always has those fingers in her mouth
Me & Meritt with my sis-in-law Amber & Chris's cousin Bethany
Meritt & Mommy
Meritt & Daddy
With Nana & Papa
Chris's family
Meritt has her own Christmas tree in her room
She was scared of it at first, but likes it now. :)

I have more to post, but I'll do it later. I need to get to bed for work tomorrow. My friend, D'Nitra is picking me up because my truck is dead! :( We're not sure what's wrong, but thank goodness it's under warranty. It won't do anything, so we'll have to have the Ford House tow it or something.
Hope everyone has a great Monday!
